  • Sadatomo was a real historical figure, and he is said to have died in the Battle of Shizugami. However, his story has been popularized in Japanese folklore, and he is often depicted as a heroic figure. The print by Kuniyoshi is a classic example. In the print, Sadatomo is shown charging into battle, brandishing a long sword (tachi).
