In Japanese folklore, Shuten Dōji is a powerful and fearsome demon who is known for his strength and ferocity. According to legend, he was killed by the hero Minamoto Raikō at the Oeyama mountains, but even in death, Shuten Dōji was able to take a bite at the hero. Raikō was able to avoid death by wearing multiple magical helmets, which protected him from the demon's attack.
