  • Minamoto no Yoshitsune (1159–1189) was a legendary samurai warrior who lived during the late Heian and early Kamakura periods in Japan. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest military commanders in Japanese history and is celebrated for his bravery, cunning, and martial skill.

Yoshitsune was born into the powerful Minamoto clan and was trained in the ways of the samurai from an early age. He gained his first military experience fighting against rebels in the north, and he quickly gained a reputation for his tactical acumen and his bravery on the battlefield. The print depicts Yoshitsune with sword drawn, as he blocks a flurry of arrows with his blade.
