Citipati, also known as "Lord of the Cemetery," is an important deity in Tibetan Buddhism. It is believed that Citipati protects and guards the burial grounds, and is revered as a powerful guardian of the dead.

Citipati is often depicted as two skeletal figures, one male and one female, who are intertwined in a dance of wild abandon. The limbs of the figures are elongated, and they are surrounded by a halo of flames. The flames are said to represent the concept of change, and the wild dance is a metaphor for the impermanence of life.
