The Gazi scrolls of Bengal, believed to have originated in the 18th or 19th century, are a collection of illustrated manuscripts that depict various episodes from the lives of the folk hero Pir Gazi and his encounters in the Sundarbans. The Sundarbans is a vast mangrove forest located in the delta region of the Ganges, Brahmaputra, and Meghna Rivers in present-day Bangladesh and India.

Pir Gazi, also known as Hazrat Gazi Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti, was a Sufi saint and warrior who is revered as a legendary figure in the folklore and history of the Bengal region. According to the legends, Pir Gazi possessed extraordinary spiritual powers and had a deep connection with the natural world, including the animals of the Sundarbans.
