Bogolfinini, also called bogolan or mudcloth, is a handmade Malian fabric dyed with fermented mud. It's traditionally worn by male hunters for ritual protection. Women wear mud cloth to signify passage to adulthood and after childbirth, based on the cloth's reputed power to deflect dangerous forces. It's central to Malian culture and is valued globally for its unique esthetics.
